Decision to cut trees of Jessore's hundred years halted in the High Court

The High Court has adjourned for more than two thousand years of cutting trees of Jessore-Benapole road for widening 6 months.

A bench of the High Court Justice Jubayer Rahman Chowdhury and Iqbal Kabir Liton gave the order on a writ hearing. Advocate Manzill Murshid argued for the writ petition.

Earlier on Thursday, the writ petition was filed in the High Court division bench of Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh, Manzill Murshid, a lawyer for environment and human rights organizations. The writers of Roads and Highways Department, Director General of Environment Department, Khulna DC and the Superintendent of Police of Jessore were made the defendants.

In fact, the government has decided to cut more than 2,000 trees of Jessore-Benapole road in the 100 years of the road. Various organizations of the country's Conscious Heritage and Environmental organizations have emerged from the traditional trees. In response to this decision, some public university students have organized a human chain.
