The number of electric and hybrid cars sold in Norway in the year 2010 was more than half of the new registered cars.

The number of electric and hybrid cars sold in Norway in the year 2010 was more than half of the new registered cars. The Norwegian Road Federation (OFVV) has said that, fully electric or hybrid cars, which are both battery and diesel or petrol cars, 52 percent of the new vehicles sold in Norway in 2017. The figure was 40 percent in 2016, Reuters reported. OVV Chief Wavind Solberg Thorsen commented that "there is no one on the shore" of the electric car share nationally. "For the first time in our market, the number of fossil fuel-driven cars has dropped below 50 percent," he said. Norway offers various facilities for new electric vehicles. In many places, from tax breaks to street toll, many electric cars users can park their cars and charge for free. In 2016, on behalf of the International Energy Agency (IAA), Norway is far ahead of other countries like Netherlands, Sweden, China, France and Britain, for the sale of electric cars. In all, for the whole of 2011, the sale of electric cars in Norway has increased from 16 percent in the previous year to 21 percent. Sales of diesel-driven cars dropped from 31 percent to 23 percent.
